Our CITY cousin is here...

Welcome baby Jack!!! We can't wait to go meet our city cousin in New york. Jack arrived Sunday, March 28 and is healthy and happy. He and his parents are enjoying their first days together and getting to know each other's love. Congratulations Mike and Lisa!!!! I'm a little jealous of the time you're in right now. Those first few days are so amazing and intense. Rory is so excited to meet his new cousin that he decided to write a song to express his feelings...

Hot headed...

Our little man had his first fever this past weekend. It was so super sad. We went to the doctor's on Wed because he had a cough that just wouldn't go away which was starting to get worse. She determined it to be bronchiolitis, which is viral and very little can be done but try to get more comfortable. That night he was up nearly every hour and had a fever of 102. He was just so not himself. We dealt with the fever for 2 days and considering how stuffed up he was and how horrible the cough sounded, he actually wasn't in all that bad of a mood. Every once in a while we'd even see a little smirk. Mostly he just was quiet and snuggly (certainly can't complain if that's his reaction to sick). Finally on Saturday we got our happy little man back. He woke up from his morning nap (which I also took since he was up a lot at night several nights in a row and I was feeling a sore throat coming on too) and he was babbling and happy and talking to his monkeys (he LOVES his monkey mobile). It was so nice to have our little guy back after 2 days of no smiles. We even had him giggling by the afternoon and by Sunday he really seemed himself again. Sorry to have missed Amy's baby shower. We'll have to get down to see the family soon now that everyone is feeling better. For now, here are a few random pics to hold you over until our next visit.
He never falls asleep on us like this anymore. So precious.

...and when I put him down to eat some dinner it was clear just how tired he was. Crime scene?

He's always dressing like me. I totally had my purple sweater on before he got dressed, so he's got to be the one to go change, right?!

Speaking of dressing alike...the cousins came for a visit. I'm sure Bev will post the full extent of photos from that week someday soon.

Mr. Cadam and Mr. Rory doing a duet.

Rory getting himself all pumped up for March Madness in his track suit.

He's finally big enough to wear his gold shoes...and now they're too small for him. Things fit for about a day or two these days.

Practicing for summer weather. If we wear it, it will come.

More fun with cousin Cadam. They are both doing very well learning to share their toys.

...and last but not least, the prized Nordic Cab makes another guest appearance on the blog, this time in jogger format. We took Rory for his first little jog (and my first run in almost a year) while he was sick. It was a beautiful day and we thought the fresh air would do him some good. He slept. I guess that's good.

Almost crawling...

This is Rory's newest trick. He's on the verge of figuring out how to crawl. You can see the gleam in his eyes when he gets himself up onto all fours and looks at a toy he wants to get to. Its as if he knows he's on the cusp of something really exciting. For now, this is what it looks like...

He starts in downward facing dog position,

Then usually looks up to make sure we're watching,

Next he tucks his legs down under him,

...and finally throws himself forward toward the goal. He is so very proud of himself each time. It's so much fun to watch. We're in trouble soon though. He's going to be mobile any day now. As it is, he's already figured out that if he rolls over several times in a row he can get himself across a room. Pretty cool.

Diapering gymnastics

This is what our pediatrician often refers to as Diapering Gymnastics. He's has gotten so squirmy that trying to wipe his cute little bum requires olympic level athleticism. Good thing we're both quick and nimble. :)

He gets a big kick out of himself and giggles the entire time. At least someone's having a fun diaper change.

Tooth number two...

Rory woke up this morning with tooth number 2 sitting up just next to tooth number 1. I can't believe how grown up he's starting to look. He fell asleep in my arms the other day, which never happens anymore, and I looked down and it seemed like his legs stretched all the way to my knees. It must have been a weird angle, because he's not that tall yet, but he's getting so big. I finally was able to catch a photo of the teeth, which are more visible now that there's 2 and the first one is up a bit further. He's smile is extra cute now with those teeth.
